Good morning Resident!

Over the past couple of days, we’ve had a number of reports of thefts from motor vehicles in the Blackwater and Hawley area.

Reports vary from a suspicious person being reported as being seen on CCTV or a camera doorbell as tampering with the resident’s vehicle, to vehicles being broken into and wallets taken.

At the moment there have been five reports over the past few days however it may be that some people have been a victim of crime and not reported it to us.

If you’re reading this, please check your vehicle to see if you’ve had anything tampered with inside. Have a look around and see if anything is missing such as loose change as this has been reported to us in one incident.

If you have CCTV or a camera doorbell, take a moment to check your footage overnight to see if your vehicle has been tampered with. If it has, please make a report online here. It’s simple to make a report and shouldn’t take you long however will help me identify any further lines of enquiry. I’ll then contact you and send you a link to upload your footage to our system.

I would also suggest turning up the sensitivity on your camera doorbell if you have one so that it identifies people further away – on most systems you can also turn notifications off so you don’t get a ping on your phone every time someone walks past, but it will still let you know if they ring the doorbell. That’s what I have set up at home and it works fantastically well.

I’ll be spending my morning catching up with victims in order to try and identify an offender – in the meantime please make sure you’re not leaving valuables in your car, particularly wallets and purses as this is what our suspects appear to be targeting!

Stay safe,
