Officers were on foot patrol on Totton Precinct yesterday morning (Tuesday 9 July), when they suddenly spotted a man running from Poundland.

Aware that people aren't always that quick to leave a shop, their instincts told them something wasn't quite right. This was quickly confirmed by staff who were also running and in pursuit of the man.

The officers instantly gave chase, caught up with the suspected shoplifter, detained him, obtained details and recovered and returned suspected stolen property. The matter will now be followed up in due course, so please stay tuned for further updates.
