Reports of birds/ducks being shot at with slingshots

Good morning Farnborough,

Very sadly I can see over the weekend that we received a report of birds being attacked using slingshots in a local park; thank you to the resident who reported this to us.  Unfortunately, this is not the first report we have received of this nature, and on speaking with my colleagues in Aldershot, I can see they are experiencing similar crimes as well.

We are really lucky to have lovely open green spaces within Farnborough, and several of them are home to ducks, birds etc.  The information we are receiving would suggest that the people attacking birds / ducks, are in their mid teens.  In one report we have reference to a school uniform so we are making enquiries with the school so that the matter can be dealt with appropriately when we identify those involved.

Please could we ask that you discuss this matter with any young people at home, encourage them to consider whether it might be someone they know, and let us know via 101  / online reporting should anything cause you concern please?  The crime reference number to quote is 44240264612.

Kind Regards

Annette
