Witness appeal following burglaries in Compton and Shawford

The theft from car incident reportedly took place at around 1.10am, not between 3.30am and 4.20am as previously stated.

Apologies.

We are appealing for witnesses and information following a number of burglary and theft from motor vehicle incidents in Compton and Shawford yesterday.

  • Between 12.01am and 6.30am on Thursday 20 June, entry was gained to a locked garage and side window at a property on Clease Way. A phone, a wallet containing bank cards, cash and car keys have been reported stolen (44240259096).

  • At around 1.10am on Thursday 20 June, entry was gained to a Kia car on Clease Way. An untidy search was carried out and £5 cash was stolen (44240259292).

  • At around 4.30am on Thursday 20 June, entry was gained to a property on Shawford Road, Shawford. Car keys were stolen from inside the property. The suspects were disturbed and fled the scene (44240259177).

  • No vehicles have been reported stolen. Since these incidents – which are believed to be linked – were reported to us, officers have been carrying out a number of enquiries and would like to ask the public if they have any information that may help the investigation.

Were you in the areas at the times mentioned above? Did you witness any suspicious behaviour? Do you have any doorbell, CCTV or dashcam footage that may help?

Anyone with information is asked to contact 101, quoting the reference numbers above.
