Man jailed for shoplifting offences in Winchester


A man has been jailed for shoplifting offences in Winchester.

Stephen Wilson, 35, of Durngate Terrace in Winchester, was sentenced today to eight weeks in prison for three counts of shoplifting and two counts of breaching a criminal behavioural order.

On 19 April he stole a box of hair straighteners worth £150 from Boots in Winchester High Street.

On 5 May he stole a number of items worth £246.50 from One Stop on Battery Hill.

On 13 May he stole a can of Red Bull from WH Smith on Winchester High Street.

Temporary Police Sergeant Ryan Keen, of the Winchester Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “A sentence likes this shows that shoplifting will not be tolerated in Winchester and as the police we will keep pursuing those committing crime in the city.”
