Op Sceptre - Knife crime prevention work

A BIG THANKYOU - Gosport Central Neighbourhood Team would like to thank the metal detectorists that helped us to do a sweep of Leesland Park in Gosport on Saturday. More of a precaution than a search for a weapon we know to have been hidden or thrown we felt it was important to help prevent harm to users of the park. I am very happy to say that no knives were found in this instance. Other parks and open spaces will be done through the rest of the year.

Whilst there we spoke with users of the park of all ages and some with four legs! All of the children we met were so engaging and happy to have the park to play in, shout out to the dude that did a back flip on his scooter in the skate park!

Later in the day the same Team were searching a Gosport address following the arrest of a male for possession of cannabis. This led to the seizure of drug related items and two machetes. The male has since been interviewed and bailed pending further enquiries.

Please contact Crimestoppers or ring 101 if you have any information we can use to prevent or detect a crime.
